UTS Human Resources

Compliance education

UTS is committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of its staff and we must ensure compliance with legal and ethical requirements.  Training on these important matters is provided through a series of online modules or face-to-face workshops.

  • Unless specified otherwise, self-enrol through Employee Self Service (ESS)/Online Learning Management (OLM)/My Learning.

Equal Opportunity (EO) Online

EO Online opens a UTSWeb sub-site is a self-paced, on-line training program for all university staff about equal opportunity. It covers:

  • theoretical knowledge and a practical understanding of how to apply equal opportunity principles in work and study environments, and
  • real life case studies, examples and interactive learning techniques for self assessment.

All staff are expected to complete Module 1. Module 2 has been specifically designed for managers and supervisors.

Health and safety

Safety and Wellbeing Essentials is a self-paced, on-line training module. All staff are expected to complete this within the first week. To access the module, enrol here opens a UTSWeb sub-site. (Note that the Google Chrome browser is not compatible). Once enrolled, select the Play button from the Enrolments Section of the My Learning home page and follow the instructions.

The following two role specific training sessions are mandatory.  They are face-to-face and require you to register.

Records and Privacy Awareness

As part of the Records Management Program opens a UTSWeb sub-site at UTS, University Records provides various levels of training for staff across the University:

 

Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) information program

ESOS applies to academic, professional and support staff who interact directly with international students, regardless of their staff designation, description or location in the organisation.

UTS International provides an annual ESOS information program to inform all staff of their obligations under the ESOS legislation. Each session is 90 minutes and provides:

  • an overview of the ESOS legislation and its requirements
  • an outline of the implications for staff
  • details of resources available to staff

Induction events

UTS runs a series of induction events that provide you with opportunities to meet people and deepen your understanding of UTS.

HR Induction Overview

Staff Services conducts face-to-face sessions on the conditions and benefits for working at UTS. These sessions are available to all staff. Staff offered employment greater than 12 months are scheduled into the next available session upon accepting the University's offer of employment.  Casual and fixed term staff less than 12 months are encouraged to attend and need to register with Staff Services.

Welcome to New Staff

The Vice Chancellor and members of the Senior Executive meet with new staff to provide an overview of the University and its strategic direction. The Welcome to New Staff sessions are available to all new staff.
