Each year the University invites eligible academic staff to apply for promotion on the basis of personal merit. Promotion rounds occur to Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor and Professor on an annual basis. All full-time and part-time academic staff are eligible to apply for promotion. (An exception is that staff appointed for three years or less from external research grant funds, where no provision has been made for the cost of possible promotion, will not be eligible to apply.)
HR Policy 5.11 sets out the criteria for promotion and the process by which decisions are made. HR Guidelines 5.12 outline the procedures relating to the promotion process and in particular applying for promotion.
