There are many different strategies you can use to attract candidates to fill a vacant position. Which one you choose depends on the type of position, your budget and the prevailing market conditions. To determine which strategy is right for the position, read through the different strategies suggested below with these questions in mind:

  • What is the nature of the position e.g. managerial, academic, technical, research, specialist?
  • What is the likely size and location of the applicant pool e.g. large or small, local, national or international?
  • How difficult will it be to attract candidates?
