- Think about what you have achieved
- Gather any feedback/ objective evidence
- For academic staff this includes a summary of all the academic activities undertaken and recent student evaluations of teaching
- Review your workplan and consider how well you have met the objectives
- Identify any problems or obstacles that may have prevented you from achieving your objectives
- Make some notes on key points you wish to discuss with your supervisor
Supervisors
- Schedule a mutually convenient time for the discussion
- Provide the staff member with access to the relevant documentation and explain what they need to do prior to the meeting, including:
- Reviewing their workplan
- Thinking about what they have achieved
- Gathering any feedback/examples of their performance/achievements
- (for academic staff this includes a summary of the academic activities undertaken and recent student evaluations of teaching)
- Gather feedback and objective examples of the staff member’s performance (as agreed with the staff member)
- Review the workplan and considering whether the objectives have been achieved and to what level
- Identify any problems or obstacles that may have prevented the staff member from achieving their objectives
- Consider how well you have met your undertakings as a supervisor and provided adequate support and guidance
- Make some notes of key points you wish discuss
