UTS Human Resources

The Centre for Corporate Health (CCH) provides advice or assistance for managers and supervisors dealing with difficult people issues at work. It does not replace advice from UTS functions such as HRU or EDU. This service supplements it by giving managers a source of independent advice as well as a sounding board on how to manage tricky or delicate people issues or conversations.

They are a professional and qualified team that have extensive experience in dealing with issues in a sensitive, empowering and supportive manner.

HR Partners can provide a referral number and contact details to arrange an appointment to see a counsellor. No personal information about managers or supervisors, including the specific issues they raise with CCH counsellors, is reported back to UTS. The referral number is used by UTS solely to verify invoices prior to payment.

The initial referral covers up to 6 appointments with a counsellor. Additional appointments can be approved via HRU on a case-by-case basis

CCH counsellors can help talk a manager through topics such as:

  • what sort of reactions to expect and are ‘normal’
  • create a picture of how the situation might look from the staff member’s perspective
  • how to express concern, expectations or requirements in neutral/appropriate language
  • tips on signs that might indicate there are other issues (which could include mental-health) and what the appropriate steps to take if those signs are observed

A separate Employee Assistance Program is available for UTS staff.
