Casual support staff are employed for irregular hours or short periods to perform administrative, professional and/or research support responsibilities. The conditions and benefits of employment are set out in the support staff collective agreement and the HR Manual.
Casual support staff are required to have the right to work in Australia and provide documentary evidence as requested. This could include an Australian birth certificate, Certificate of Australian citizenship; Australian or New Zealand passport; evidence of permanent resident status, or temporary visa with entitlement to work.

The rates of pay for casual support staff are contained in schedule 2 of the support staff collective agreement and incorporate a loading of 25% in lieu of all paid leave entitlements.
Payment to casual support staff is made every second Thursday following submission and authorisation through online pay claims
Hours of work will be in accordance with your contract of employment and will vary depending on whether you are engaged as day or shift staff, or have an alternative hours or agreed hours arrangement. Some casual support staff may be required to work reasonable overtime and will claim the overtime through online pay claims.
Note: all claims for payment must be made within a period of six(6) weeks

- view your payslip
- update your personal details (eg address, qualifications, bank account information)
- apply for leave
- submit your payroll claims for payment (eg casual hours, overtime, shift penalties)
Casual support staff may enter into a salary packaging arrangement to salary sacrifice all of their before tax salary into UniSuper or another superannuation fund of their choice.

and National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU)

Casual support staff participate in a tailored version of the Performance and Development process.
Casual support staff may be eligible to apply for conversion to a continuing or fixed-term appointment after 12 or 24 months service.
