Staff have the following responsibilities if they wish to access work life balance options to accommodate life needs:
- develop an understanding of balance options by:
- reading this website and related links
- contacting Staff Services
- talking to colleagues who are utilising balance options
- develop a clear proposal about the balance options that you believe will assist you with your life demands
- consider and seek advice on the impact of the proposed balance options on your superannuation, long service leave and other entitlements
- be prepared to discuss your proposed balance options with your supervisor (or the Director, Human Resources if you would prefer to keep your personal circumstances confidential)
- be prepared to make suggestions about how your proposed balance options could be accommodated and your work reallocated or reorganised (no-one knows your work better than you)
- as part of the Performance and Development process, develop a workplan which accommodates your proposed balance options and discuss this with your supervisor (this may be developed before or after your balance options are approved)
- once your balance options are approved and in place, meet objectives and expectations set out in the new workplan and discuss workload or other issues with your supervisor
- seek approval for any changes to your arrangements.
